Our History

The ACF of Oregon was established in 1991 to serve the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ of Oregon. All directors are affiliated with the Christian Church/Church of Christ and serve without compensation.

The idea for ACF of Oregon came from ACF of Indiana, which was established in 1964 to grant scholarships to Indiana residents pursuing full-time vocations in Christian ministry.  Mr. Bill Duncan, with the support of local ministers, business leaders, and profits from his personal business, was awarded the first of over 900 scholarships.

Alexander, meaning “helper”, was chosen to represent the mission of the foundation. ACF of Indiana continues to this day and has awarded over $3 million dollars in scholarships.
